Halloween lands on Saturday, October 31, 2026, and everyone at Kitchener Dentist Lancaster Dental wants to wish our patients and their families a happy, safe and fun night. Costumes, carved pumpkins and a full bag of treats at the end of the street: it’s one of the best nights of the year in Kitchener neighbourhoods.

Yes, we’re a dental office, and no, we’re not going to tell you to skip the candy. A little planning is all your teeth need.

A few easy tips for a tooth-friendly Halloween:

  • Enjoy treats with a meal or right after one, instead of snacking on them all evening.
  • Plain chocolate is easier on teeth than sticky caramels, taffy and gummies, which cling to the grooves of your teeth.
  • Hard candies and lollipops keep sugar in the mouth for a long time, so go easy on those.
  • Have a glass of water after treats to help rinse away sugar.
  • Brush for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste and floss before bed, even if it’s a late night.

For parents, it helps to sort the candy together after trick-or-treating and decide how many pieces a day is reasonable. Kids feel like they’re part of the plan, and the bag lasts a lot longer.

Please stay safe out there too. Wear something reflective, carry a flashlight, and keep an eye on little ones crossing the street.

If a treat ends with a chipped tooth or a lost filling, call us at 519-578-9670, and we’ll help you sort it out.

🎃 Happy Halloween 2026 from all of us at Kitchener Dentist Lancaster Dental! 👻
