People look for a new dentist for all sorts of practical reasons. You’ve moved to the area, your old dentist retired, your insurance changed, or a tooth has started to bother you and you don’t have anyone to call. Whatever brought you here, booking a first visit with our Kitchener office is simple, and our team will walk you through it.

Why patients choose Lancaster Dental

  • Serving Kitchener since 1978. We’ve been looking after patients in this community for more than four decades.
  • Direct billing and CDCP. We bill most insurance plans directly, and we accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
  • Same day appointments. When there’s an opening, we can often see you the same day, so a sore tooth doesn’t have to wait.
  • Family dental care. Everyone in your household can be seen at one office, and we can often book family members back to back.
  • Sedation options. If dental visits make you nervous, we offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation. Our sedation dentistry page explains how each one works.

Your first visit

A first appointment is mostly about getting to know you and your mouth. We’ll go over your health history, do a full exam and take any X-rays that are needed. Then we’ll explain what we found in plain language and talk through your options before any treatment is booked.

When you call to book

To get you into the right kind of appointment, our front desk will ask a few quick questions. Is this a routine check-up and cleaning, or is something bothering you? If a tooth hurts, where is it and how long has it been going on? Do you have dental insurance, and who is the plan member? Your answers help us set aside the right amount of time, so your first visit isn’t rushed.

Please don’t send detailed health information or insurance numbers through the web form or by email. We’ll collect those privately when you call or come in.

You can save time at the front desk by filling out our patient forms before you come in. On the day, please bring:

  • Your insurance card or plan details
  • A list of the medications and supplements you take
  • The name of your previous dentist, so we can request your X-rays and records with your permission

Haven’t seen a dentist in a while? That’s more common than you might think. We’ll simply start from where things are today and help you plan sensible next steps, one visit at a time.

Care we offer

Once you’re a patient, most of your dental care can happen in one familiar place. Our services include:

If something hurts right now, don’t wait for a routine opening. Call us and have a look at our emergency dentist in Kitchener page. For a check-up, cleaning or small repair you’d like sooner rather than later, ask about same day dental appointments.

Insurance, direct billing and CDCP

We bill most dental insurance plans directly, so in most cases you only pay the part your plan doesn’t cover. Some specialist work may be billed differently. If that applies to your treatment, just ask and we’ll explain how it works. For anything your plan doesn’t cover, we accept credit cards and cash.

We also accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan. If you’ve been approved for CDCP, bring your member details to your first appointment. Our CDCP page has more about the program, and you can confirm current details on canada.ca.

Not sure how your plan handles a particular treatment? Call and ask. For larger work, we can send a predetermination to your insurer first, so you know what’s covered before you decide.

New patient questions

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. We’re welcoming new patients and families at our Kitchener office. Call 519-578-9670 or use the request form at the top of this page.

Do you bill my insurance directly?

For most plans, yes. We send the claim to your insurer, and you pay any portion your plan doesn’t cover. Some specialist work may be billed differently.

Do you accept CDCP?

We do. Bring your CDCP member details when you come in, and our team can answer questions about what to expect.

Can my family book together?

Often, yes. When you call, mention how many people you’re booking for and we’ll try to line up appointments back to back so everyone is seen in one trip.

Can I get a same day appointment?

When there’s an opening, yes. Call in the morning if you can, since same day spots depend on the schedule that day.
